Hamlet Law Attorneys Honored as 2022 Super Lawyers and Legal Elite; Hamlet Law Recognized as Best Law Firm

Attorneys H. Mark Hamlet, Nicole B. Slaughter and Jessica S. Humphries have been honored as North Carolina Super Lawyers in the practice areas of civil litigation, construction defects and construction litigation. Super Lawyers comprise the top 5 percent of attorneys, as recognized by their peers for professional achievement in various practice areas.

This is Mr. Hamlet’s twelfth consecutive year to be named a Super Lawyer and Ms. Slaughter’s second. For the fourth year, Ms. Humphries has been recognized as one of North Carolina Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars.” The “Rising Stars” all are under the age of 40 and have practiced law for 10 years or fewer.

Mr. Hamlet and Ms. Humphries also have been selected among Business North Carolina magazine’s 2022 Legal Elite in the category of construction law. Legal Elite honorees are determined by peer lawyers as the best practitioners in business-related fields of law. About 3 percent of the state’s practicing attorneys were selected this year.

Last fall, the firm was recognized in the 2021 edition of U.S. News – Best Lawyers as one of the “Best Law Firms” in the state in the practice areas of commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, construction law and construction litigation. This recognition is based on a peer-review survey of more than 50,000 attorneys. The firm has been recognized as one of the “Best Law Firms” since 2011.

Ms. Humphries currently serves as the president of Coastal Women Attorneys, a regional chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. She also is on the board of directors for the New Hanover County Bar Association and Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, where she has volunteered for four years as a team leader for the Women Build event.

Ms. Slaughter also was elected to the board of directors for the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys for a three-year term in 2021 and was further recognized by the NCADA for her volunteer work with the association, specifically organizing breakout sessions for continuing legal education.

“Nicole has worked hard in leadership for the NCADA for the last few years. This honor is well deserved,” said founding partner H. Mark Hamlet.

Mr. Hamlet, Ms. Slaughter and Ms. Humphries are based in Wilmington, N.C.
